Heritage Bungalow, Bandra

Full-home door and window PU polish restoration on a 15-year-old colonial-era property — 22 items, fully restored.

Heritage Bungalow, Bandra
Scope
22 items
Duration
6 days
Location
Mumbai

Original Burma teak, fifteen years past its last polish, with decades of paint bleed on the beading and monsoon swelling at the sills. Replacing it was never on the table — the joinery is the reason the house is listed.

Restoration, not replacement

Every one of the twenty-two doors and windows was hand-stripped rather than sanded flat, preserving the original mouldings and hardware. Grain was opened, filled and re-sealed before a matte PU topcoat went on.

  • Twenty-two doors and windows, hand-stripped
  • Original brass hardware removed, cleaned and refitted
  • Matte PU topcoat — period-correct sheen, modern durability

“The doors look like they did the year my grandfather hung them.”
